A Large-Scale, Integrated, and Turnkey Camp Solution for Petrochemical and Refinery Investments

Mesaieed Industrial City, one of Qatar’s most important industrial hubs, is a strategic region where petrochemical, refinery, and heavy industrial investments are highly concentrated. Within this context, a Prefabricated Modular Life Support Camp with a capacity of 10,000 people was successfully delivered by DORÇE under a turnkey EPC model to meet the accommodation and living needs of the large workforce operating in the region.

The Employer of the project is Satco, while the Project Owner is a partnership between Qatar Petroleum and Norsk Hydro. Developed for Qatalum under this partnership, the project stands out as one of the largest integrated industrial camp investments in Qatar.

A Reference Project Based on More Than 20 Years of Experience in Qatar

With its first completed projects in Qatar in the field of prefabricated modular buildings and worker accommodation camps for the petrochemical and refinery sectors, DORÇE has established a strong presence in the region and has become a reliable solution partner through more than 20 years of on-site experience. The Mesaieed Industrial City Camp Project represents one of the largest-scale reflections of this long-standing expertise.

Industrial-Scale Integrated Camp Settlement

The camp located in Mesaieed Industrial City was designed not merely as a group of accommodation units, but as a fully integrated life support infrastructure. Within the scope of the project:

• Modular container units
• Prefabricated modular steel buildings
• Light gauge steel structural systems
• Pre-fabricated heavy steel building systems

were used together, enabling the rapid and high-quality construction of buildings serving different functions.

Building Systems and Technical Scale

The project was completed between July 2007 and September 2008 and has the following technical dimensions:

• Total site area: 160,500 m²
• Total enclosed area: 94,500 m²

A settlement of this scale has provided a high-capacity and sustainable living infrastructure for petrochemical and refinery projects operating in the Mesaieed region.

Works Executed Within EPC Scope

Within the project scope, DORÇE undertook all works end-to-end under an EPC approach, including:

• Building construction works
• Infrastructure and superstructure construction
• Electrical and mechanical installation works
• Power plant and water treatment systems
• Fire detection and fire safety systems
• Installation and commissioning works
• Furniture and equipment supply

All systems were implemented in compliance with Qatar’s high safety, quality, and environmental standards for industrial facilities.
