A Large-Scale Residential Development Implemented under the EPC Model for Gabon’s National Housing Infrastructure
The Angondje Housing Project was implemented in Libreville, the capital of Gabon, as a strategic public investment aimed at strengthening the country’s national housing infrastructure. This large-scale residential development, consisting of a total of 600 family housing units, was undertaken by DORÇE under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) model.
The project was carried out under the coordination of the Agence Nationale des Grands Travaux (ANGT), with Bechtel involved in the engineering processes, while the final employer was the Ministry of Investment, Public Works, Transport, Housing, and Tourism of Gabon.
Developed on a total site area of 273,700 m² with a construction area of 54,853 m², the Angondje Residential Complex was planned in accordance with modern urban planning principles. Infrastructure, superstructure, and landscaping works were handled through an integrated approach. The project directly contributes to Gabon’s long-term urban development and sustainable housing policies.
Fast, Durable, and Sustainable Housing Using Cold-Formed Light Steel (LGSF) Technology
The project utilized the Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) technology, one of DORÇE’s core areas of expertise. Through controlled factory production, the housing units were manufactured to high quality standards, enabling rapid on-site assembly and efficient site management. The LGSF system stands out for its suitability for tropical climate conditions, seismic resistance, and long-term structural performance.
End-to-End EPC Scope
The main works executed by DORÇE within the scope of the Angondje Housing Project include:
- Engineering and construction of 600 family housing units
- Infrastructure and superstructure works
- Foundation and ground preparation works
- Electrical and mechanical installations
- Landscaping and environmental works
- Limited furniture and equipment works
- Logistics, transportation, and customs clearance operations
This comprehensive EPC approach enabled the project to be completed on time, within controlled costs, and in compliance with international quality standards.
A Strong and Sustainable Reference for Housing Projects in Africa
The Angondje Housing Project clearly demonstrates DORÇE’s engineering capabilities in large-scale housing developments, public investments, Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) technology, and turnkey residential projects delivered under the EPC model across the African continent. The project offers a scalable, sustainable, and replicable housing model, particularly suitable for Sub-Saharan Africa and other developing regions.
In this geography, characterized by tropical climate conditions and long rainy seasons, fast, controlled, and industrialized construction methods are of critical importance. In this context, the use of LGSF and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) not only ensures high adaptability to climatic conditions but also provides effective solutions to increasing housing demand and accelerated public investment timelines.
All building components used in the project were manufactured in a controlled factory environment at DORÇE’s advanced production facilities in Ankara and subsequently transported to the site for rapid and efficient installation. This approach minimized on-site construction time while delivering significant advantages in quality standardization, schedule management, and cost efficiency.
Modern construction methods are increasingly being adopted by governments and public authorities worldwide as a strategic solution to address rapid urbanization, housing shortages, and infrastructure demands. In this regard, the Angondje Housing Project strongly confirms DORÇE’s position as a reliable, technology-driven solution partner in the fields of housing, social infrastructure, and public buildings in the African market.
