In 2011, a 700-person prefabricated modular workforce camp was implemented by DORÇE in Basra, Iraq, within the scope of the Muftiya Water Treatment Plant, serving oil and energy projects, using heavy steel and pre-engineered steel building systems.
The Muftiya Water Treatment Plant 700-Person Workforce Camp was planned to support strategic oil and energy infrastructure investments carried out in the Basra region of Iraq. The project was executed for Al Qabas Oil Services Co. Ltd., within the framework of works conducted under the State Company for Oil Projects, affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.
Within the scope of the project, DORÇE undertook the supply and installation processes of the workforce camp structures, utilizing heavy steel building technology to meet the accommodation and living needs of personnel working in water treatment plant operations.
Heavy Steel and Pre-Engineered Building Systems
The project utilized Heavy Steel and Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structural systems. These construction technologies offer high durability, long service life, and rapid installation advantages, which are essential for energy and water infrastructure projects. The workforce camp buildings were designed in accordance with industrial standards, taking into account harsh climatic conditions and intensive site usage.
The camp complex has a total enclosed area of 2,120.57 m² and was planned to accommodate a capacity of 700 personnel.
Project Scope and Technical Works
DORÇE’s scope of work included the supply of buildings, electrical works, and international transportation processes. Structural components were manufactured in compliance with site conditions and transported to the project site in Basra, where they were delivered ready for use. The electrical infrastructure was integrated to ensure the operational continuity of the camp.
Project Duration and Budget
The workforce camp facility was successfully completed between April 2011 and September 2011. The project was delivered in line with the planned budget and schedule.
A Strategic Camp Solution for Energy and Infrastructure Projects
This workforce camp project implemented in the Basra region was designed to provide safe and orderly living conditions for personnel working in oil, gas, and water infrastructure projects. The project stands as an important reference reflecting DORÇE’s experience in heavy steel building solutions and workforce camp projects for the energy and infrastructure sectors.
