Two-Storey Modular Container Solutions for the Oil and Gas Sector

DORÇE has undertaken the supply of two-storey modular accommodation and office units for use on the Aras Barge, located in Romania, on behalf of Aras Marine Construction Inc., in response to the demanding offshore operational requirements of the oil and gas sector.

Within the scope of the project, accommodation units, executive offices, and dining facilities designed in accordance with offshore operating conditions are being developed based on the assembled system principle and prepared for shipment for integration onto the barge.

Planned to serve a total capacity of 62 executives and personnel, this offshore living facility has been designed with a focus on operational continuity, safety, and long-term living comfort. The total enclosed area of the project is 720 m², with all modular units scheduled to be supplied and ready for shipment within a 12-week timeframe.

ISO-Modified Container Systems Designed for Offshore Conditions

All structures used in the project are manufactured using ISO-modified, welded steel container systems. Taking into account offshore use, continuous motion, humidity, saltwater exposure, and aggressive environmental conditions, the container units are equipped with special coating and material solutions that ensure high corrosion resistance.

Designed for use on a Romania-based barge, these systems aim to provide a safe, durable, and low-maintenance structural solution for long-term offshore operations. This approach delivers a critical advantage in terms of durability and sustainable use in oil and gas projects.

Integrated DORÇE Approach to Electrical and Mechanical Systems

Within the scope of the project, DORÇE’s responsibilities extend beyond the supply of modular structures to include the integration of electrical and mechanical systems in compliance with offshore standards.

The accommodation units, office areas, and dining facilities are planned as fully ready-to-use modular units, equipped with safe electrical infrastructure, offshore-compliant mechanical installations, and technical systems that enhance user comfort.

This integrated approach enables rapid commissioning and operational efficiency without the need for additional on-site fabrication works on the barge.

Critical Technical Performance Criteria for Offshore Oil and Gas Operations

Accommodation and office units used in offshore and barge-based oil and gas projects must meet high technical standards not only in terms of structural strength, but also regarding human safety, operational continuity, and long-term living comfort. Accordingly, the modular container systems developed within the project are designed to meet the following criteria:

High Thermal and Acoustic Insulation
High-performance thermal and acoustic insulation solutions are applied, taking into account engine vibrations, equipment noise, and variable marine climate conditions.

Fire Safety and Offshore Compliance
In line with the critical importance of fire safety in oil and gas operations, the units are planned based on offshore-compliant material selections and safe evacuation scenarios.

Structural Stability and Resistance to Marine Conditions
Welded steel structural systems with high rigidity are designed to support two-storey usage scenarios, considering wave motion, wind loads, and continuous operational vibrations.

Modularity and Rapid Integration
Thanks to the assembled system principle, the units are designed to allow fast installation and seamless integration on the barge.

Ergonomic Layout and Long-Term Living Comfort
Accommodation areas, offices, and dining facilities are configured with an ergonomic layout that supports personnel comfort and work efficiency during extended offshore assignments.

A Strategic Offshore Reference for the Oil and Gas Sector

Upon completion, the Aras Barge Offshore Accommodation and Office Units Project will serve as a strong reference showcasing DORÇE’s supply and engineering capabilities in oil and gas projects, offshore barges, marine accommodation facilities, and modular container systems.

With its short delivery timeline, corrosion-resistant structural systems, offshore-compliant technical infrastructure, and integrated solution approach, the project presents an effective and sustainable modular building model for offshore energy projects.
