Turnkey Worker Accommodation Camp Delivered in 3 Months under Challenging Conditions in the Adar Region of Sudan
The Palouge Oil Field Operations Base Expansion Project is a qualified oil and gas camp infrastructure project implemented by DORÇE within the scope of oil and gas activities carried out in the Adar region of Sudan, one of the country’s largest and most strategic oil production areas. The project was executed on a turnkey basis under the Design and Build model, with Asawer Oil and Gas as the client and Petrodar Operating Company as the employer.
Despite the extremely challenging site conditions, including high security risks caused by the ongoing civil war in Sudan in 2011, severe climatic conditions, and swampy ground, the project was successfully completed in just three months. Through the use of pre-engineered heavy steel building solutions positioned on a piled foundation system, both structural safety and long-term durability were ensured.
The Palouge Operations Base Expansion Project stands as a strategic reference that strongly demonstrates DORÇE’s international expertise in oil and gas camp projects requiring rapid mobilization, advanced engineering solutions, and operational continuity in crisis regions.
Steel Camp Construction on Piled Foundations in Swampy Ground Conditions
The expansion works of the Palouge Operations Base were carried out on swampy terrain with extremely low soil bearing capacity. For this reason, the project was designed using Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) heavy steel structures installed on a piled foundation system.
With a total enclosed area of 5,835 m², the camp buildings were constructed using heavy steel systems that provide high durability, long service life, and fast installation advantages under harsh site conditions. This approach offers a critical solution for establishing safe and sustainable camp infrastructures in oil and gas fields.
End-to-End DORÇE Management under the Design & Build Model
The project was managed end to end by DORÇE under the Design & Build contract model. The scope of work included all of the following disciplines:
Architectural and engineering designs
Ground improvement and piled foundation works
Superstructure heavy steel construction systems
Installation and on-site applications
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) works
Camp furniture and living facilities
Thanks to this integrated approach, on-site coordination requirements were minimized, and the project was completed within the planned timeframe despite the high security risks.
A Strong African Reference for the Oil and Gas Sector
The Palouge Oil Field Operations Base Expansion Project is a strong reference confirming DORÇE’s international experience in African oil and gas projects, worker accommodation camps, steel camp structures, and EPC solutions in crisis regions.
With its short delivery period, advanced engineering solutions applied on swampy ground, and heavy steel building technologies, the project serves as a benchmark for high-durability camp developments designed for oil and gas fields.
