Prefabricated Modular Isolation and Healthcare Infrastructure Implemented Under the Coordination of the Mozambique Ministry of Health

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a critical healthcare investment was implemented in Mozambique in order to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure effective control of infectious diseases. Within the scope of the project carried out under the coordination of the Mozambique Ministry of Health, the Lizulo Prefabricated Modular Healthcare Center, located in the Angóni district of Tete, a strategic region close to the Malawi border, was manufactured and delivered to site by DORÇE Prefabricated Buildings & Construction.

Planned to serve approximately 500,000 people, this prefabricated modular healthcare facility is the only healthcare center operating in the Tete region. The project was designed to provide a fast, safe, and organized solution to the significantly increased demand for healthcare services during the pandemic period.

The prefabricated modular isolation and healthcare container buildings used in the project were developed not only for emergency pandemic conditions, but also with long-term use, operation under different climatic conditions, and relocatable building system capability in mind.

Thanks to the modular system, the container buildings can be reused in other healthcare projects, deployed in different regions, or repurposed for alternative public services when required. This portable, practical, and flexible modular building approach ensures high logistical and operational efficiency.

Fast and Efficient Solution with Prefabricated Modular Healthcare Container Buildings

The prefabricated modular healthcare container buildings and isolation cabins used in the project combine the critical advantages required in emergency situations such as pandemics, including rapid installation, controlled hygienic environments, and functional spatial organization. The container buildings were manufactured at DORÇE’s production facilities in Ankara, in compliance with technical and hygiene requirements applicable to healthcare buildings.

The units were designed for flat-pack (demountable) shipment, significantly improving transportation efficiency in long-distance international logistics operations and minimizing on-site installation time. The factory-controlled production approach provided a major advantage in terms of consistent quality and standardized implementation.

The isolation cabins and modular container spaces designed for healthcare functions were planned to enable safe, controlled, and efficient patient admission, examination, and isolation processes. This approach resulted in a functional healthcare building infrastructure that prioritizes both the safety of healthcare personnel and the protection of the local population.

Contribution to Regional Healthcare Infrastructure

The Lizulo Prefabricated Modular Healthcare Center represents not only a temporary response to the pandemic, but also a strategic investment contributing to the long-term healthcare building infrastructure of the Tete region. Following its official opening by the Mozambique Minister of Health, the facility became fully operational.

Through this project, DORÇE once again demonstrated its ability to deliver fast, reliable, and scalable healthcare buildings, even in regions with challenging geographical and operational conditions, thanks to its Ankara-based production capacity, international logistics management, and engineering expertise in prefabricated modular container building solutions.

The isolation cabins and modular healthcare container buildings, which are of critical importance during pandemic periods, stand as a strong reference reflecting DORÇE’s competence in international healthcare projects.
