Inclusive and Safe Educational Spaces with Light Gauge Steel (LGSF) Building Technology

Within the scope of the PIKTES Project (Supporting the Integration of Syrian Children into the Turkish Education System) implemented by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of National Education, and taking into account the crisis experienced in Syria and the resulting forced migration process, the Special Education Kindergarten Project was implemented at 50 different locations across 19 provinces in Türkiye. The project aims to ensure children’s access to the right to education, support social cohesion, and strengthen early-age integration.

The project implemented within this framework demonstrates DORÇE’s strong expertise in social impact-oriented educational buildings, EPC project management, and light gauge steel (LGSF) construction technologies. Completed between April and October 2022 with a total construction area of 12,540 m², the project aimed to provide rapid access to safe, inclusive, and sustainable educational environments for children from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds.

The project represents a significant educational infrastructure investment that supports children’s adaptation to the Turkish education system, psychosocial development, and social integration through preschool education.

School Buildings Specially Designed for Inclusive Education

The kindergartens constructed within the scope of the project were designed based on special education requirements, preschool pedagogical approaches, and child safety principles. Spatial organization was planned to support children’s social adaptation and learning motivation, creating bright, safe, and accessible educational spaces.

This approach offers an inclusive building model that supports children from different socio-cultural backgrounds receiving education together in harmony within the same learning environment.

Fast and Coordinated Implementation with the EPC Model

Within the scope of the project, DORÇE managed design and engineering, superstructure and infrastructure works, electrical and mechanical installations, logistics, and assembly processes in an integrated manner under the EPC model. Implementations carried out simultaneously at 50 different locations were planned in alignment with the academic calendar and completed within a short timeframe.

Thanks to this organizational model, the educational buildings were made ready for use for the new academic term while children were on holiday.

Advantages of Light Gauge Steel (LGSF) in Educational Buildings

The light gauge steel (LGSF) structural system preferred in the project simultaneously provided earthquake safety, fire performance, rapid installation, and high-quality standards, which are critical for educational buildings. Factory-produced structural components enabled controlled and error-free on-site assembly, allowing the same standards to be maintained across different cities.

Thanks to this system, the kindergartens were delivered as educational buildings that are:

safe and healthy,
long-lasting,
low-maintenance,
sustainable.

DORÇE Experience in Social Impact-Oriented Education Projects

The PIKTES Special Education Kindergarten Project reinforces DORÇE’s strong reference base in public education buildings, internationally funded social projects, child-focused educational facilities, and multi-location EPC implementations.

This project represents not only a construction activity, but a comprehensive educational investment that increases access to education, supports social cohesion, and creates safe learning environments for future generations.
