The Ruwais Oil Field, one of the most critical regions of the United Arab Emirates’ energy infrastructure, is located within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and serves as the country’s main hub for oil production, refining, and petrochemical activities. Large-scale investments carried out in this globally significant energy zone require not only industrial facilities, but also high-standard accommodation and office buildings capable of meeting the housing and working needs of thousands of personnel employed at these facilities.

Implemented within this framework, the Daewoo 3,400-Person Worker Accommodation Camp and Offices Project stands as a prestigious and important reference project that clearly demonstrates DORÇE’s engineering, organizational, and execution capabilities in delivering large-scale EPC building projects for the oil and gas sector, distinguished by its scope, scale, and rapid completion.

Turnkey, High-Standard Building Solutions Under the EPC Model

The project was executed on a turnkey basis under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model, with DORÇE fully responsible for all design, engineering, superstructure and infrastructure works, as well as testing and commissioning processes. Thanks to this integrated project management approach, the project was successfully completed within the planned schedule in a highly operationally sensitive environment such as the Ruwais Oil Field, with full compliance with international quality, safety, and performance standards.

The Daewoo Worker Accommodation Camp and Offices Project is a concrete demonstration of DORÇE’s strong EPC capabilities in delivering accommodation and office buildings for the oil and gas sector, high-capacity worker camp projects, and building solutions serving critical industrial facilities across the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East.

Light Steel and Heavy Steel Building Systems

Within the scope of the worker accommodation camp and office buildings, the following systems were used together:

• Light steel building systems
• Heavy steel and pre-engineered steel building solutions

These systems were selected in consideration of the harsh climatic conditions and intensive industrial activity of the Ruwais Oil Field, providing advantages such as rapid installation, high structural durability, and long service life.

Construction, Infrastructure, and Technical Systems

The project, covering approximately 32,500 m² of enclosed building area and 164,700 m² of site area, was completed with the following works delivered in full:

• Building construction works
• Earthworks
• Electrical installations and infrastructure works
• Mechanical installation works
• Fire alarm systems
• Firefighting systems
• Air conditioning and HVAC units
• Potable water tanks
• Wastewater tanks

All systems were designed and implemented in accordance with international safety and quality standards applicable to oil and gas facilities.

Fast Delivery and Operational Continuity

The worker accommodation camp and office buildings, with a total capacity of 3,400 people, were completed within a short period of approximately 5 months, between November 2010 and June 2011. This fast delivery played a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted on-site operations.
