In 2007, a skid container system turnkey camp project with a capacity of 182 people was implemented by DORÇE in the Pointe Noire region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, under a Design & Build delivery model.

The 182-Person Skid Container Camp Project, realized in Pointe Noire for Universal Sodexo, was planned to address the needs of rapid installation, operational flexibility, and functional use under challenging site conditions. The project was completed by DORÇE on a turnkey basis within the scope of a Design & Build contract.

The camp settlement, with a total enclosed area of 1,800 m², was designed as a modular living and operational center, incorporating both office and accommodation spaces.

Flexible and Transportable Structures with Skid Container Systems

The skid containers used in the project were custom-produced by DORÇE based on project-specific requirements. Thanks to the skid system integrated into the container chassis, the units can be easily moved and repositioned on site without the need for cranes or heavy infrastructure. This feature provides a significant operational advantage, particularly for temporary or relocatable camp solutions.

Within the scope of the project, the camp settlement was created using a combination of Modular Steel Buildings and skid container systems. The camp includes kitchen and dining buildings, laundry units, chiller and freezer areas, dry storage units, as well as skid-based accommodation containers. Office and personnel accommodation areas were also integrated to support the camp’s daily operations.

Modular Steel Structures and Camp Functions

Within the camp settlement, Prefabricated Modular Steel Buildings, Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings, and Dismountable Container Systems were used together. As part of the project, kitchen and dining facilities, laundry units, chiller and freezer areas, dry storage units, and skid accommodation containers were constructed. The camp, designed for 182 people, was planned to meet both office and personnel accommodation requirements.

Engineering, Superstructure, and Technical Works

The engineering and superstructure construction works of the project were undertaken by DORÇE. Electrical and mechanical installations were integrated to ensure uninterrupted camp operations. In addition, furniture supply, kitchen and laundry equipment, on-site installation works, and logistics processes were completed within the project scope.

International Logistics and Rapid Installation

The production and shipment of the camp structures were planned with the objective of minimizing on-site installation time. After the container and modular building components were delivered to the site, they were assembled in a short period, and the camp was fully commissioned and made ready for use between February and March 2007.

DORÇE Experience and Camp Project Reference

The Pointe Noire Skid Container Camp Project stands as a strong reference reflecting DORÇE’s experience in worker camps, modular living spaces, and industrial camp solutions across Africa. The project clearly demonstrates DORÇE’s capability to deliver rapid deployment, engineering excellence, and turnkey camp solutions in challenging geographies.
