Global Benchmark in High-Security Oilfield Accommodation Solutions

Located near Basra, Iraq, the Zubair Oil Field is considered one of the world’s largest oil reserves and a strategic hub for global energy markets. As part of the redevelopment project led by the Italy-based energy major ENI, Dorce Prefabricated Buildings and Construction delivered the High-Security Life Support Camp as a turnkey solution, addressing one of the site’s most critical operational requirements.

As ENI’s main contractor for the camp, Dorce integrated pre-engineered heavy steel systems, demountable container units, and prefabricated overhead protection structures to construct one of the most secure living environments in the region.

Key Security Features of the Zubair Camp

Among oil and gas developments in the Middle East, this facility stands out with top-tier High Security Standards, designed to function as a fortified zone:

  • Mortar-Resistant Roof System: A secondary steel shield installed above the buildings for overhead blast protection.

  • Ballistic and Physical Barriers: Perimeter protection with T-Walls, Texas barriers, Hesco barriers, and Jersey barriers.

  • Active Defense Perimeter: Excavated defensive trenches, steel security towers, protective platforms, and sandbag-reinforced walls.

  • Electronic Security Systems: Integrated communication, alarm, and 24/7 surveillance infrastructure.

Comprehensive Social and Administrative Facilities Ensuring Comfort in Harsh Conditions

The Zubair Camp is not only a shield against external threats but also a fully equipped living environment that supports the physical and mental well-being of personnel working under harsh desert conditions. Dorce designed the camp’s social and administrative facilities to enhance operational efficiency and daily comfort:

  • Administrative and Working Offices: Modern, climate-controlled office complexes with ergonomic layouts and advanced technological infrastructure to ensure seamless project management.

  • Industrial Kitchen and Dining Halls: High-capacity food preparation areas equipped with industrial-grade systems, along with spacious dining halls meeting international hygiene standards.

  • Gym and Recreation Facilities: Enclosed sports areas equipped with professional exercise systems to support personnel health and stress management.

  • Laundry Units: Fully equipped laundry facilities with high-capacity washing and drying systems.

  • Covered Steel Car Parks: Large steel-structured parking areas that protect vehicle fleets from Basra’s extreme heat and environmental conditions.

Production in Ankara, Deployment Worldwide – Fast Mobilization and Efficient Logistics

Dorce manufactured the mortar-resistant modular buildings and demountable structures at its integrated facilities in Ankara, then transported them to Iraq using its extensive international logistics network.

  • Factory-Completed Production: Modular units were largely completed prior to shipment from Ankara.

  • Rapid On-Site Installation: Assembly strategies focusing on minimal on-site time and maximum efficiency.

  • Adaptation to Harsh Conditions: Packaging and transportation methods designed specifically for heavy desert environments.

Why Dorce?

With over 40 years of experience, Dorçe has consistently proven itself as a trusted solution partner for international EPC companies across the oil & gas, mining, and defense sectors. The Zubair project once again demonstrates Dorce’s capability to meet global military-grade protection standards while ensuring rapid mobilization and reliable performance in some of the world’s most challenging geographies.
