Dorce Prefabricated and Construction successfully delivered the 446-bed Basra University Teaching and Research Hospital in Basra, Iraq as a fully equipped turnkey project under the Design & Build model. From medical gas systems to next-generation medical devices, from operating theatre installations to hospital furniture, every component of the project was designed, supplied, and integrated under Dorce’s responsibility.

Iraq’s Largest Integrated Education and Research Hospital

Featuring a 16-storey modern tower and an expansive horizontal treatment block, the hospital offers a total capacity of 446 beds, establishing itself as one of Iraq’s largest and the region’s most advanced healthcare campuses.

16-Storey Tower With Helipad and Functional Hospital Architecture

Vertical Tower Block (16 Floors)
The vertical tower was designed to ensure optimized structural circulation. It houses patient rooms, VIP suites, staff accommodations, and a rooftop helipad built in accordance with international standards. The 24/7 operable helipad supports emergency air ambulance operations, significantly reducing critical response times for life-threatening cases.

Horizontal Treatment Block
Designed to maximize operational flow and patient safety, the horizontal block accommodates:

  • Emergency Department

  • More than 20 fully equipped Operating Theatres

  • Intensive Care Units (ICU Units)

  • Diagnostic Imaging Centers

  • Outpatient Clinics

The horizontal layout enables efficient workflow management, faster interventions, and improved patient comfort.

Three-Storey Grand Atrium
Connecting the two primary blocks, the three-storey atrium serves as a spacious and visually striking central hub, integrating all major functional areas of the facility.
