The Sakhalin project represents a unique engineering application with an exceptionally high level of logistical complexity, requiring the use of steel grades capable of withstanding temperatures as low as minus 56 degrees Celsius.

DORCE achieved a benchmark success under some of the world’s harshest climatic conditions through the Sakhalin Onshore Processing Facility projects carried out for Sakhalin Energy Investment Corporation on Sakhalin Island, a strategic energy region of the Russian Federation. Under extreme cold weather conditions reaching minus 50 degrees Celsius, an integrated workforce camp accommodating 7,000 people was constructed using advanced engineering solutions that combine light steel and heavy steel structural technologies.

The works executed in collaboration with ENKA Construction and Industry Inc. covered the full scope of design, engineering, manufacturing, office and dormitory buildings, workshop and warehouse areas, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as all on site installation activities. The completion of a total enclosed area of 40,500 square meters within a short timeframe and the simultaneous management of mobilization across a total project area of 358,200 square meters once again demonstrated DORCE’s leadership in modular solutions for industrial camps and the energy sector.

The Sakhalin Onshore Processing Facility is located seven kilometers inland from the point where gas pipelines arriving from the Lunskoye platform reach the shore. With a daily processing capacity of 51 million cubic meters of gas and 9,500 cubic meters of condensate and oil, it stands as one of the most critical energy projects in the Russian Federation. The workforce settlement serving this large scale production infrastructure is a fully integrated living complex, developed entirely with prefabricated modular steel systems, designed for year round use, featuring high insulation performance and resistance to severe climatic conditions.

As an approved supplier to Shell and ExxonMobil for more than twenty years, DORCE continues to play an active role in the international projects of these two global energy leaders. The Sakhalin project stands as one of the most significant references representing the global standards achieved by DORCE in turnkey camp installations under extreme climate conditions.
